Sania Mirza will get an appeanrance money totalling $90,000 for participating in next month’s Bangalore WTA open.Thats twice the amount Indian male star Leander Paes commands. It has been attributed to Sania’s fine showing at the Doha Asian Games, that her marketibility (never short in India) has also served to prop her appearance fee up.

None-the-less it cannot compare to other male stars abroad like say a Federer or Nadal could command.

The Chennai Open is said to have forked out an astounding $750,000 (estimated) to get the stars to play! Carlos Moya is estimated to make $150,000.

It is well known top players bring in the crowds. This matters to the overall success of the tournament. In India though its the male players who have been earning more and Sania Mirza has broken that mould.

The Bangalore Open which will also feature Seres Williams will present her $150,000 to be counted.
